Final Project Summary

Overall I wanted my project to portray natural beauty and dressed up beauty and how both can be beautiful. I set up a photo shoot setting in my room and had my roommate dressed down then I had her dressed up. Every time I would add a curl or any makeup to her I would take a picture. This created the stop motion affect. I feel that my final project went really well. It seemed like people liked it. I don't know if I really like the way we critiqued today just because I wanted to talk about my project a little more, but I do feel that this critique got people talking more.

Overall I really liked this class and you as a professor! Hopefully I am able to get in another one of your classes at some point.

Final Project Notes

My final project is a stop motion video about beauty. I am using my roommate zoe as my model and I am going to have her start off looking natural and at the end her be in a prom dress. I wanted to show that no matter what you wear or look like you can always be beautiful.

Final Project notes

I don't have much of an idea yet, but I wanted to do something on the lines of natural beauty vs. beauty that is put together with make up and clothes. I want to do something like this because when I go to class I don't ever dress up or get ready, but on the weekends I dress up a lot. I like how you can have two different types of beauty. I haven't thought of what I was going to do yet, but I'm trying to think of some ideas.

Overall I feel that our project went well, but it was hard to work as a group. I feel as though everyone had these problems. We all agreed with pornography and that we were against it, but since Laura was so close to the topic that is was hard to allow us to have our own input. There is nothing wrong with that, but now that I look back on it I feel as though we should have gone with something more broad so that we all could have been more involved.

During this week of class it was just presentations. I think all of the projects were good, but you could tell that almost every group had some problems. I like how the disability group involved the audience, and I also really liked the legalize weed one. I think it was put together well.

My group is pornography. We met at 11:30 on Monday and went to the digital media lab to work until 2. We have all of our video filmed. We worked on adding in facts about pornography and also scanned in peoples opinion of pornography (we each asked three peoples opinion and they personally wrote their answers.) We found some swimsuit models and edited those in photoshop and plan on putting them in the video. We are going to met on Sunday to finish up our project. Our progress is coming along well. I think working in a group is awesome and it's a great experience. This way we are able to have more ideas coming in.

Class and Project Notes

This week in class we watched Art21 and had speaker, Jennifer Wallace come in. Some of the videos we watched were about Alfredo Jaar and Krzystos Wodiczko. Jaar did 21 projects with Rwanda. He wanted to do something that no one has ever really spoken about. Wodiczko's projects were about killings in St. Louis. He did a projection on Bunker Hill where the speaker is seen on the monument. They talked about loved ones who died. He also did a Hiroshima project where the hands of the speaker are projected on the Atomic Bomb Dome. All of the artist were very moving.

Our project is going really well. We are recording Laura's dad about his pornography addiction and overcoming it. We are also getting peoples responses throughout campus. We are asking how they feel about pornography and if they think it affects the person doing it and their family. We are meeting Monday at 11:30 to start putting our video together. I think it's going to come out really well.
